Some gifts begin with a remembered detail. They always choose the dark. They save the caramel for last. They spent every summer near the sea.
Details like those make the choosing easier. Adorable Chocolat is a chocolaterie at 395 Main Street in Shediac, New Brunswick, where every box has been composed by hand since 2011, from organic, responsibly sourced cacao, and the shop ships to every province and territory in Canada. Half the pleasure of a box is lifting the lid, choosing, and deciding whether to share, which is why the box deserves some thought.
So begin with what you know about them.
For someone who likes a little of everything
Assorted Boxed Chocolates come in four sizes, 6, 12, or 25 pieces, from $16. Each box is the chocolatier's choice from ten flavours: hazelnut, praline, sweet and salty, tonka bean with vanilla bean, lemongrass, mint, coffee, Olé-Molé hot pepper, Lavender Provençale, and raspberry. The classics sit beside the curiouser ones, and the lemongrass deserves a conversation of its own.
Six is a host's gift, or thanks for the neighbour who shovelled. Twelve suits a parent, a teacher, or anyone who's hard to buy for. Twenty-five is for a household, or for an office where "just one" is understood as a suggestion.
For someone who misses the coast
Taste of the Sea gathers Atlantic sea salt caramels, truffles, and chocolate seashells in one box, and of everything we make, it tastes most like the coast it comes from. Send it to the neighbour who moved west, the host who welcomed you to New Brunswick, or anyone whose idea of a holiday includes salt air. The shop lists it as organic, nut-free, and gluten-free.
For a smaller coastal gesture, Homarus is our chocolate lobster on a stick, in dark, milk, or white. Shediac being the Lobster Capital of the World, it would be rude not to.
For the person whose favourite you already know
An assortment is one way to give chocolate. If the caramel always vanishes first, there's a case for a whole bag of it.
- Truffles, by the bag: Atlantic Sea Salt Caramel (chocolate, cream, vanilla, fleur de sel, and maple sugar), Dark Chocolate Rum, or Hazelnut Praline.
- Sea salt caramel spread, for the person who eats it from the jar with a spoon and says otherwise.
- The Scorpion bar, a dark bar blended from three chocolates, for the devoted dark-chocolate eater.
- Mountain Peaks rochers, in milk or dark, and Vaguelettes, in orange or lime.
Knowing someone's favourite is a small thing. Remembering it is rather larger.
Made here, by hand
Maître Chocolatier Lucas Michel and the atelier work beneath the café at 395 Main Street. Some pieces are cast in moulds; others begin as firm ganache centres, cut and coated by hand. Every one carries our Clean Label: no GMOs, no hydrogenated oils, no high-fructose corn syrup, no artificial colours, no chemical preservatives.
Shipping across Canada
The shop ships within Canada only, to every province and territory, and checkout offers two kinds of choice:
- A flat $20 rate, "Shipped to Canada", the same price whatever the size of the order.
- Canada Post services, from Regular Parcel to Priority, priced by destination, with Canada Post's estimated delivery date shown before payment.
For Christmas: order early. Chocolate made by hand is made in batches, December fills, and the post slows as the day comes closer. If the calendar wins anyway, the chocolaterie in Shediac opens at 7:30am daily (closed Christmas Day), and a box collected in person travels very well on a passenger seat.
Gift notes: leave a gift message for the card in the order note in your cart. Buying in Shediac? Every box on this page is also on the counter at 395 Main Street.
A word on allergies
Each product page lists its ingredients. The Hazelnut Praline truffles contain nuts and wheat, and the assorted boxes include hazelnut and praline flavours; Taste of the Sea and the Dark Chocolate Rum truffles are listed as nut-free. For a serious allergy, call (506) 351-0367 before ordering. The guild will give an exact answer, never a guess.
For a whole client list
For colleagues, partners, or the people whose business you value, our corporate programme runs in three steps: choose the chocolates, choose the packaging, choose the message, with your branding on the box or the chocolates for larger orders.
